Hockey Alberta is proud to announce Trevor Keeper as the Head Coach of Team Alberta Male for the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Keeper is currently the Head Coach of the Red Deer Midget AAA Optimist Rebels where he has been since 2007. He comes to Team Alberta with a long list of coaching experience through Hockey Alberta’s programs. “I’m very honoured to be chosen as the Head Coach of Team Alberta for the 2011 Canada Winter Games. I have been involved in Hockey Alberta’s U-15 to U-17 programs for many years. From experience at several different Alberta Cups, U-17 and U-18 World Championships, I can honestly tell you that Hockey Alberta is a leader to be emulated. We have many credible coaches in our province and I feel fortunate to have been chosen to lead in this capacity,” said Keeper. The Team Alberta coaching position is a two year commitment. Keeper’s coaching duties will begin this summer with the U15 skills camp. He will then continue working with the same group of 1995 born players the following year at the U16 Provincial Camp before taking Team Alberta to the Canada Winter Games in 2011. “I’m looking forward to working with the ‘cream of the crop’ athletes that will be a part of this program. It’s an enjoyable challenge to work toward identifying the best players within a particular age group, forming a team, and heading into a championship such as the Canada Games,” said Keeper. “Trevor’s background, experience and knowledge make him a great candidate to lead Team Alberta at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. We look forward to his involvement with our program and athletes in Alberta over the next 2 years,” said Tim leer, Senior Manager, Development, for Hockey Alberta. The Canada Winter Games (every 4 years)/Western Canada U16 Challenge is the final stage of the Team Alberta first year male program. |
