The hair has returned to its normal hue, the exhilaration has transformed into something more like a proud memory and the name has gone from something scary to something heavenly; but one thing has not changed in the Parkland Athletic Club – the desire to win.
Gone from a year ago is head coach Marc Kronewitt, who mentored PAC to the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League provincial championship. In his place, a new staff led by Dan Hart and a promise to bring the same competitive spirit to the ice as has always defined PAC.
Gone also is the Timberwolves nickname which has also defined the club since its inception. In its place the newly formed Saints, an alignment with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Spruce Grove franchise.
But the PAC isn’t the only club to have undergone changes in the AMMHL this season.
More so than any other league, rebuilding is inevitable in the AMMHL. A stopover league for 15-year-olds on the way from Bantam AAA to Midget AAA or beyond, the AMMHL turns over its entire league roster annually.
Graduates from last year’s AMMHL include St. Albert Flyers sniper Colten Mayor, who has cracked the roster of the Western Hockey League’s Red Deer Rebels and goaltender Liam Liston who was one of the final cuts from the Brandon Wheat Kings this season. |
