Plans to stage a AAA Bantam tournament at East Calgary Twin Arenas during the Christmas break have been cancelled – at least for this season.
“We had some interest, but basically, a lot of teams were waiting to see where else they could play and it got to the point where we needed to make commitments for ice and officials and couldn’t do it,” said co-ordinator Jeremy Congo.
“So, we’re now going to look at a pre-season tournament, next fall. And we’ll continue to examine the possibility of doing something during the Christmas break.
“We think we could possibly tie it in with the Mac’s AAA Midget event. Our league does not schedule games during this period and we were looking for ways to keep our teams and our players active over the holidays.
“But we want to do it right and we want to attract top teams and we weren’t going to be able to do that this season.” |
