HEADS UP
In the last issue of Alberta Hockey Now, dated Oct. 18, a photo on Page 16 was incorrectly identified.
The photo of Simons Valley goalie Brady Newton and one of his teammates inadvertently identified them as members of the Springbank Phantoms A1 team.
The Phantoms actually hosted their annual Thanksgiving tournament with teams participating from Simons Valley, Crowchild, Airdrie and Springbank, which was the order of finish with all teams winning at least one game at the event.
The A final was an exciting affair as Simons Valley defeated Crowchild 4-3 in a shootout.
The two teams played to a 3-3 draw in regulation and neither team scored in another five minutes of five-on-five action with no goalies. After three shooters from each team failed to score in the shootout, another three shooters went from each team in a sudden-death format until the third shooter from Simons Valley finally notched the winning goal. |
