Midget AA
A potent attack and some stingy defending have propelled the Knights of Columbus Colts to the top of the Rural Edmonton Midget AA Hockey League in the early going, this season.
At press time, the Colts were a sparkling 3-0-0 on the year one of only three squads in the 12-team league to start with a perfect record. Both the PAC Timberwolves and the Strathcona Warriors were also perfect at 2-0-0.
Last season’s REM champs and provincial silver medalists, Southside Athletic Club Don Wheaton were sporting a 1-1-0 record after beating their association rivals Lakewood Chev 2-1 and falling 1-0 to the Timberwolves.
Minor Midget AAA
Hard to put too much weight on early season performances, but the St. Albert Flyers have started the 2008/09 Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League season with a healthy does of confidence.
The Flyers opened their season on Oct. 11 with a 7-2 road drubbing of the Lloydminster Kinsmen Bobcats. The Flyers followed that up with a 4-3 win over the host PAC Timberwolves.
Brady McCorriston has led the way in lighting the lamp for St. Albert, potting four goals in two games, while Colten Mayor leads all point-getters in the league with two goals and seven points in the same time frame. |
