The Prince George Cougars and Seattle Thunderbirds finalized a trade today. The Cougars have acquired 18-year old Right Winger Isak Quakenbush from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for 19-year old forward Colin Haas.
Quakenbush was originally an 8th round bantam pick by the Thunderbirds in the 2005 draft. Quakenbush has appeared in 112 games over the past two season for Seattle compiling 4 goals, 3 assists, and 7 points to go along with 94 penalty minutes. Quakenbush is 6’5” and 227 pounds and hails from Fairbanks, Alaska.
Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson said “The younger group of players have really battled hard in camp and managed to take some of the ice-time away from some of our older forwards. We feel that with Isak being a year younger he fits nicely with our plans. At 6’5 and over 220 pounds he will also bring some much needed size up front.”
Haas, a 19-year-old from Plano, Texas, appeared in 65 games for the Cougars last season and had three goals and five assists with 37 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of minus-17.
It is anticipated that Haas will suit up this weekend for the T-Birds at the Red Lion Hotels' Preseason Tournament in Kennewick. The T-Birds take on the Tri- City Americans on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the tournament. |
