The Voltigeurs were undisciplined in the first period, getting called for three penalties, but goaltender Marco Cousineau shut the door on the Rimouski power-play, blocking eleven shots as both teams retreated to their dressing rooms with the score tied at zero.
Luca Cunti put the Océanic up by a goal at the very start of the second period by driving hard to the net and poking a rebound past Cousineau. A few minutes later, Jonathan Brunelle tied the game with a great move that beat Maxim Gougeon on his stick side.
Drummondville benefited from a power-play opportunity to take the lead at 11:56. Dmitry Kulikov directed a hard slap-shot towards the Océanic net which found a small opening between the pads of the Voltigeurs’ netminder.
Rimouski got the home crowd going again in the third period. Patrice Cormier used a vicious wrist-shot from the top of the face-off circle to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Finally, Dumont silenced the sold-out crowd by scoring his second goal of the tournament.
